Mountain Health is one of two remaining ACA-era Co-Ops out of the original 24, and a community health plan providing essential coverage for a large, rural 3-state region. As one of few Co-Op success stories, the company plays a pivotal role providing marketplace competition in rural parts of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, finally giving people in the area a choice in their coverage.
So how have Mountain Health Co-Op survived the turbulent landscape so many other health Co-Ops failed in? A key part of the company’s strategy has been in becoming a frontrunner in AI, which has allowed it to connect with members in meaningful ways to improve care, and to ultimately retain them better (with the Co-Op’s membership about doubling in size over the past three years).
